Natural products are not only better for our bodies than chemical ones, but the are also better for the environment. Here's why: natural products are free of ingredients that pollute our water and soil and damage our bodies. What types of ingredients, you ask? Some toothpastes and face scrubs contain microbeads--tiny pellets of plastic--that are too small to be filtered out of water and end up in oceans, lakes and rivers. Some ingredients in chemical body products are even linked with infertility and even cancer. Up to 60% of what adults put onto their skin and hair is absorbed into their bodies, and children absorb even more. This is not what people usually think about when they got to the store to by lotion or shampoo, but it's crucial for your health to make the switch. An easy step to reducing the amount of chemicals you expose yourself to is to try a natural version of the chemical product that you have when you run out. Natural products work just as well and your body will thank you. (Use EWG's easy database to determine which products are natural and which aren't.)
